Colon cancer

How do I know if I have colon cancer? What are the initial symptoms? I am 48 and worried

Unfortunately, there is no one specific sign or symptom that signifies colon cancer. Moreover, in some cases one may have vague symptoms. There is no one initial symptom of colon cancer. However, the majority of people may complain of tiny amount of blood in the stools. The stools may appear tinged with drops of blood or the stools may appear dark or black. Other symptoms may include change in bowel habits, constipation, weight loss, fatigue, general malaise and vague abdominal cramps.

Colon cancer is rare in individual under the age of 50. Today, screening colonoscopy has been recommended starting at the age of 50. Individuals who have family members who have had colon cancer should undergo colonoscopy at an earlier age. Besides colonoscopy, one may even undergo a barium enema or a video capsule endoscopy.

Enlarged prostate

I have been told I have a large prostate. Is this related to my diet?

I doubt it. Diet and nutrition have now taken over the lives of most Americans. Every one believes that anytime one has a medical disorder or an illness, diet is the cause. Sure, in some cases diet is a factor, but there are many disorders which one can acquire irrespective of the diet consumed. There is zero evidence that an abnormal diet is a cause of enlarged prostate. Likewise eating certain diets enriched with vitamins or minerals does not reverse the disorder. In many cases, diet is not a cause of many illnesses.

Sometimes there is a thing called bad luck and it probably explains why most things happen in life. Bad luck is a far better explanation for most disorders in medicine than any bogus reasoning like diet or lack of vitamins.

Sex Therapy

Can sex therapy help curb my intense desire to have sex all the time?

Sex therapy involves psychotherapy sessions with licensed professionals. Even though sex therapy has been widely promoted as a treatment of sex addiction, I doubt it helps. The need for sex is so powering that it overrides all types of B.S. social and psychosocial therapies. Do you believe that Tiger Woods chit chatting with a therapist will help curb his sexual appetite? No way-this is just another gimmick therapy Do you believe that simply telling a professional that you want and love sex all the time is going to stop your desire for sex? I personally think it is a bunch of crap. In addition, these sessions are every expensive.

I really do not know the therapy for sex addiction. I personally do not know what the boundary between normal sex and more sex. At what point does one call sex a disease that needs treatment!  Sex addiction is just a bogus diagnosis so that health professional can make more money from gullible people. Just because you cheat on yore spouse does not make you a sex addict. As long as there is satisfying sex between two mutual consenting partners, then you do not need any silly psychotherapy sessions.

Sexual headaches

I am a 24-year-old male. Over the past 12 months I have been getting intense headaches during sex. The headaches seem to come on just as I am about to have an orgasm. Is there any treatment for this?

What you describe are sexual headaches. They tend to occur just before or during orgasm. Most of the time, the individual knows when the headache is coming on; rarely it may be spontaneous. The majority of these sexual headaches are nothing more than a f..ing annoyance. Most of the headaches last a few minutes but a lingering throb may be persist for a few hours. If you have recurrent sexual headaches you can take some medications. However, it is best to see  a headache specialist first to make sure that you do not have any type of other pathology.

For a young person like you, take an NSAID an hour prior to sex and see if it makes any difference. The other way of prevention is to be gentle during sex. Intense excitement and stimulation is a known cause of these headaches. So relax and let your partner sweat it out.

Apcalis for erection

Is apcalis oral jelly helpful for erectile problems?

Apcalis is manufactured somewhere in Asia and sold online. However, I should tell you that most reports indicate that the pill is fake. It is a major scam targeted against gullible males who think with their “Dick” and not with their head. Once you have given your credit card to a European pharmacy that sells Apcalis, all you are going to get is depression.

The DEA has been shutting down these websites since the pills analyzed have been found to contain junk. If I were you I would not waste any money on apcalis. There is even fake Viagra. So buy your meds from a reputable dealer. Online pharmacies in Canada and in Europe are notorious for scams. If you re looking for a cheap pill to boost your libido, there is none out there except Viagra and cialis- and both are relatively expensive.

Claudication

Recently my doctor suggested I take cilostazol (pletal) for my claudication. Do you think this is ok?

No I think it is a terrible idea. First, if you smoke, quit. If you are overweight, lose weight. If you have diabetes, get better control of your blood sugars. It you really have intermittent claudication, then why do you want to rely on a pill?

Cilostazol is very expensive and you have to take it for decades, and there is little proof that it works. If you really want to take a pill, take an aspirin. It is much better, cheaper and works.

My best advice for people with claudication is exercise. Nothing beats walking everyday. This will help build up more blood vessels over many years. So try it. Walking is free, enjoyable and will also help you lose weight and build self-confidence. Avoid doctors who prescribe cilostazol because it indicates that they are very ignorant about claudication and its treatment.

Cozaar for hypertension

I have high blood pressure and recently my doctor prescribed me cozaar. Is there anything else I can take? The drug is very expensive.

Cozaar is an excellent drug but also very expensive,. There is a generic version available, which is cheaper- just ask the pharmacist for losartan. The drug also reduces kidney disease in diabetics. Highly recommend it if you can afford it. It is not often that I recommend medications.
